Navigating Healthcare | Cogitate Cast Ep 01
Cogitate Cast Episode 1. A discussion with Tushar Srivastava who has a bachelor of medicine and surgery from the University of Auckland. He’s been working in Auckland hospitals on the covid response team during the outbreaks in New Zealand.
We talk about how covid affected hospitals in New Zealand, the quack field of chiropractics, homeopathy and the placebo effect, the overworking and underpaying of medical staff, the nurse shortage, plant-based eating for health, and weight loss.

Note: this conversation was recorded on the 22nd of January 2022 which was before the Omicron variant had started community transmission in New Zealand. Up until that point NZ had largely managed to keep covid out through strict lockdowns, contact tracing and border controls. When I say 'Covid had largely been uneventful' I'm meaning uneventful for Tushar specifically as, despite being on the covid ward, he hadn't been called to treat covid patients.
